Ms. Sophy K.J., is an English Graduate who pursued Masters in Law with specialization in Intellectual Property Rights securing highest marks in the discipline from NALSAR, University of Law, Hyderabad in 2008. She has also done a Post Graduate Course on Mass Communication and Journalism from Bharatiya Vidya Kendra, Kochi. She is now pursuing her Ph.D. on the topic 'Strengthening of Farmers' Rights to safeguard Plant Genetic Resources' from NLU, Delhi.
She did her Law Clerkship with Honourable Justice, Sirpurkar, Supreme Court of India, for one year in 2009 and thereafter worked as Research Associate, MHRD Chair on IPR, NLSIU, Bangalore. She also assisted in material development of PGDIPR Course run by NLSIU, Bangalore.
She has authored articles and research papers on areas of Intellectual Property Rights, Environmental Law and Human Rights. She is recognized as Course writer for Master of Intellectual Property Law Programme run by School of Law, IGNOU, New Delhi. She has also presented papers in International and National Conferences on her areas of interest.
She was instrumental in organizing an International Workshop on the theme 'Towards an Intellectual Property Regime that protects the Public Health' in collaboration with World Health Organization and a National Roundtable Conference on Traditional Knowledge while working at NLSIU, Bangalore.
