Visit to Oxford University and Sheffield Hallam University by NLU Delhi Faculty Members

On a special invitation extended to Prof. B.B. Pande, Chair Professor, Criminal Law, NLU Delhi and Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Registrar & Professor, NLU Delhi, the Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford hosted a special seminar on ‘Criminological Perspectives on Sex Crimes in India’ on 02nd December 2015 at St. Hilda’s College. At this Seminar, Prof. B.B. Pandemade a presentation on ‘Criminological Explanations of Sex Crimes’ and Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, made a presentation on ‘Imparting Victimological Orientations to Sex Crimes’.

 

The audience at this seminar included, Prof. Ian Loader, Professor of Criminology, University of Oxford; Mr. Ben Bradford, Departmental Lecturer in Criminology, University of Oxford; Ms. Rachel Condry, Associate Professor of Criminology, University of Oxford, Ms. Arushi, Rhodes Scholar and other members from the legal fraternity of University of Oxford.

 

The presentations were well received by the audience and it was suggested that many more such seminars may be organized in the near future.

 

The Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice, Sheffield Hallam University in association with the British Society of Criminology Victims Network hosted a special Seminar on‘The Search for Victim Perspectives in Criminology in Post Delhi Gang Rape Period’involving the participation of faculty members from National Law University Delhi on 04th December 2015. At this Seminar, Prof. B.B. Pande, Chair Professor, Criminal Law, NLU Delhi made a presentation on ‘Delhi Gang Rape A Turning Point For Victim Justice In India' and Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Registrar & Professor, NLU Delhi made a presentation on ‘The Social and Contextual Narratives of Victimization of Women In India’.  Further, two presentations were made by Dr. Heap and Dr. Jennifer Sloan, Faculty Members, Sheffiled Hallam University on the topics, ‘UK victim perspectives relating to ‘Performative Policies and Futile Figureheads’ and Pervasive Perversions: Sexism, Violence and Harms’ respectively.
