Interview

What made you choose to apply at NLUD?

I found NLU Delhi's tradition of engaging in comprehensive interdisciplinary research well suited to my academic work. Apart from its location in the national capital that is the center to all things legal, at NLUD I will get an opportunity to learn from the Faculty under whom I have had a privilege to study. The University’s focal areas of research, its consistency, and the roadmap for its future growth also pulled me towards this job.

What made you choose research and teaching as a career?

Born and brought up in a family of academicians, my general outlook was always academic. I consider myself lucky to be able to pursue what I think comes naturally to me. I am motivated to contribute to the body of knowledge through my teaching. Moreover, the teaching profession comes with the added benefit of ‘lifelong learning’. To challenge and be challenged on diverse subjects intrigues me and brings me to NLU Delhi.

What is your area of interest and what excites you about it?

As an aspiring legal academician, I believe that law is inherently interdisciplinary and that a holistic understanding of any issue is a necessity in framing good laws and policies. I believe that engaging with, borrowing from, and contributing to legal aspects of social sciences would be immensely beneficial in initiating meaningful change, both at a theoretical and practical level.

How do you see contributing to NLUD as an academic fellow?

As an academic fellow, I will focus my energies on research and teaching. From assisting with university research projects, conducting independent research within well-defined guidelines, taking classes under senior faculty supervision or otherwise, engaging with students and assisting them in their academic and overall development, conducting academic events like seminars and workshops, representing the university at various levels as required, and finally of course, handle administrative duties to help achieve a model level of efficiency.
