Mr. Pratyush kumar

Research Associate



Pratyush Kumar has done his BA, LLB (Hons.) from National Law University Jodhpur and LLM (International and Comparative Law) from the George Washington University Law School, USA. He has a diverse work experience. After graduating from Jodhpur he worked in Centre for Business Law Studies, Fox & Mandal law firm, Bangalore. He has also worked with an industry lobbying firm in Virginia, U.S., on trade and investment policy research. He has several publications both national and international and has had a diverse work experience. One of his peer reviewed articles has also been translated into Korean. Since April, 2011 he has taken to full time teaching engaging both LLB and LLM students and is currently working at National Law University, Delhi.

He was invited by Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal to give lecture on International Trade Law (GATT & WTO) to LLM students some of whom were government officials engaged in policy making. He was the India Contributor to the World Bank's Women, Business and the Law project report for 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. Apart from his interest in International Law and related fields he is also interested in philosophy of law, theory of state, multiculturalism, secularism, nyaya or Indian Logic and epistemology. He has offered a short course on “Secular and Religious Foundations of State” where he dealt with the original texts of Hobbes’ Leviathan, Machiavelli’s Prince, Carl Schmitt’s Political Theology and Kautilya’s Arthashastra.

He is proficient in English and Hindi and has a fair knowledge of Bengali, French and Sanskrit. He contributes for vernacular journals in Hindi on varied subjects of history, culture and philosophy.
